Biography

Janet Vizina-Roubal, Professor - Janet completed her Doctorate of Social Work from the University of St. Thomas/St. Catherine. She holds an M.S.W. from the University of Michigan as well as a B.S.W. from Ferris State University. She has been teaching full time for Ferris since 2007. Her recent professional focus has included technology-mediated social work practice where she has been called upon to present at national and international conferences. She currently serves as a member of the Department of Social Work’s leadership team and is an active member of the department’s curriculum, budget and planning committees. Dr. Vizina-Roubal is the MSW Program Director. Her clinical experience includes providing outpatient services to severe and persistently mentally ill specializing in DBT, depression, bi-polar, reactive attachment disorder, trauma within the school setting and anger management. Her prior work experience also includes school social work as well as substance counseling. Dr. Vizina-Roubal primarily teaches in the M.S.W. program. Her engaging classroom presence is showcased in the following M.S.W. courses: Advanced Micro Practice with Children, Adults, and Families; Advanced Policy and Advocacy; Assessment and Diagnosis and Field Seminar.
