The purpose of the Confederation of Michigan Tribal Education Departments (CMTED) is to provide guidance and support in an advisory capacity for the development of educational programs that serve to improve the wellness of Tribal Citizens. The CMTED will assist in establishing a network of support, guidance, and collaboration to advocate for educational and cultural needs of Tribal Citizens.

Committed to developing educated, confident, competitive, proficient tribal citizens who excel in any venture they pursue while maintaining their rich Anishinaabe culture and language.
The CMTED is guided by the 7 Grandfather Teachings (truth, honesty, humility, love, respect, wisdom and bravery).

The twelve (12) federally recognized tribes of Michigan form the CMTED
