Dr. Kathryn Mullins is Ferris State University’s vice president for University Advancement and Marketing, overseeing efforts to make a Ferris education accessible to more students and sharing the Ferris story around the state and beyond.

The first member of her family to attend college, Mullins has spent nearly 30 years working in education, including 10 years in K-12 administration and 18 years at Grand Rapids Community College, where she last served as vice president for College Advancement and executive director of the GRCC Foundation.

Under her watch, the GRCC Foundation doubled the amount of scholarship money available for students, and raised funds for new facilities and renovations to historic buildings, all aimed at improving the student experience and creating more educational opportunities.

The Communications team under her leadership earned more 50 state and national honors for its storytelling, and the Grants Department set its record for financial support from governmental and philanthropic sources.

As Ferris’ vice president for University Advancement and Marketing, Mullins leads efforts to connect with local, state and national partners and philanthropic donors to support students and enhance educational opportunities. She oversees marketing and communication teams and connects with the hundreds of thousands of Ferris alumni around the globe.

Mullins is a leader in the community, serving as a member of the board for the Fair Housing Center of West Michigan, the Mecosta County Development Corporation, and was a 2013 GRCC Salute to Women honoree.

Mullins is a Ferris alumna, earning a doctoral degree in Community College Leadership. She also earned an associate degree and bachelor’s degree in business, and a Master of Business Administration in Leadership Studies from Baker College.
