Instructional Design

Ferris’ instructional design staff assist faculty as they develop quality and innovative technology-enhanced and eLearning experiences for students. Whether it’s for a lesson, course, program, or project, instructional design support includes areas such as curriculum, assessment and course design, multimedia content training and presentation, educational technology, pedagogy, accessibility, virtual reality, gamification, etc. We constantly explore and research the latest technology advancements for high quality course design and best practices in teaching with technology.

One-on-one or small group consultations, presentations, workshops, and trainings are available as well as semester-long eLearning Course Design Cohorts offered in a hybrid/online format.

Ferris faculty and adjunct have three eLearning supported options for online course design.

  1. A faculty member can work with the Ferris Online Design Consultant (in eLearning) or Instructional Designer (in the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning) to create and implement a new online course or revamp an existing online course.
  2. A faculty member can apply for the online course development agreement (CDA) stipend (contact us for more information) for courses meeting all standards of the Ferris Online Course Quality Rubric.
  3. A faculty member can create and implement an online course completely on their own, consulting with an instructional designer if desired.
