How did you learn that you were a first generation college student?
I'm the first person in my family to go to college and earn a degree.
What support system or mentors did you have in college?
I got to know my professors and my advisor. My husband and children were also supportive
of me working full time and taking classes.
What is something that you know now, that you wish you knew when you were in college?
I wish I had explored my options with the educational counseling center before choosing
a degree path.
What advice do you have for a first-generation college student pursuing a degree at
Ferris?
Get involved with RSOs related to your career path. Make strong connections with others
in your program. Participate in the variety of free activities hosted throughout the
year to broaden your perspective.
