Women In Technology

On Campus

The number of female students enrolled in engineering technology programs at Ferris State University is growing steadily. To continue supporting this growth, the College of Engineering Technology strives to help create a sense of community so that female students may feel welcomed, connected to others, and well positioned to realize their full potential. Female students within the College have the option of participating in events and activities that encourage networking, professional development, and growth. Although these events are open to all students, an emphasis is placed upon themes of females in engineering technology given that they are underrepresented in these areas.

VOLUNTEER - MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Current students are also invited to get involved to volunteer in and around the community with initiatives that challenge gender stereotypes. While females perform well in math and science, they are less likely to choose programs in college that are nontraditional for their gender such as engineering technology programs. Research shows that exposing these students to female role models can make a big difference in encouraging them to consider such career options. Throughout the year there are numerous opportunities to volunteer to support younger students. If you are interested, please contact the University Career Programs Specialist at 231-591-3549.

GET INVOLVED - GET CONNECTED

Each semester programming is offered for current students to meet other students, develop visions for their future careers, grow professionally, and have fun. To register to attend any of these events or to learn more, contact Leigha Compson, University Career Programs Specialist at [email protected] or at 231-591-3549. We look forward to hearing from you!
