Definition

Belonging is a multi-faceted experience that can occur when individuals are provided a secure environment that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, creating an inclusive community allowing members to thrive authentically.

Commitment Statement

We, the Ferris State University community, embrace and commit to cultivating an environment of belonging. As part of the institution's fabric, the work of belonging is the shared responsibility of students, faculty, staff, administrators and stakeholders. We recognize this commitment is complex and expansive in scope and implementation.

Initiatives

Create and sustain a campus environment of access, inclusion and representation

Provide support and programming that encourages all members of the FSU community to pursue personal, educational and professional development and growth in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice and Belonging (DEIJB)

Center and incorporate belonging in teaching and learning
