Five Time Management Tips for Wintermester
We’re halfway through Wintermester, and many of you are working hard to get a lot of learning done in a short amount of time. Here are five time management tips to help you succeed.
Create Mini-Deadlines
Set up small milestones for yourself throughout the semester to help you monitor your progress. For example, if you have a paper due by the end of the semester, the experts over at eLearners.com suggest that you set a deadline for picking your topic, completing your research and finishing your first draft. It’s a sure-fire way to beat procrastination.
Pace Yourself
Studying is like running a marathon. The eLearners.com experts also advise that you pace yourself and take breaks so you don’t wear yourself out. Stepping away from your screen gives you a chance to clear your head and jump-start your motivation.
Check-In Daily
One of the coolest things about Wintermester (and our online programs) is that you only need an internet connection to go to class. Our Ferris eLearning team recommends logging in to your class daily and using tools like your smartphone calendar, reminders and lists to organize your coursework.
Get Rid of Distractions
Focusing can be hard, especially with text messages, Facebook notifications and emails popping up every time we open our laptops. The productivity gurus at Mindtools.com encourage you to block out time to check your phone and email so you can focus on the assignments at the top of your to-do list.
Ask Your Professors for Help
If you're struggling to keep up with your coursework, our Ferris eLearning team urges you to reach out to your professors for help as soon as you can. When taking an online class, you're not physically in the classroom, and your instructors may not be able to tell that you're having trouble. Send them an email or reach out on Canvas with any questions or concerns.
