Biography

I am involved in numerous activities at the College of Pharmacy. I have been the skills coordinator in the Integrated Pharmacotherapy course series since the implementation of the course. I have also served as the primary coordinator of IP7 - IP9 since Fall 2021 in addition to my skills coordinator role. My committee involvement at the college currently includes the Accreditation and Assessment Committee as well as the APPE Readiness sub-committee.

I also maintain an active practice at Mercy Health Saint Mary's in Grand Rapids where I precept fourth year pharmacy students on their Acute Inpatient Medicine Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE).

I am involved in numerous professional organizations. I am actively involved in the Laboratory SIG through the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and have been serving as co-chair of the research and assessment committee since 2021.

My journey in academia started in 2008, and over the years, I've had the privilege of working with many students, faculty, and healthcare providers which have all contributed to my own personal growth and development as a Professor of Pharmacy Practice. My career trajectory has been a dynamic blend of pharmacy practice, teaching, coordinating courses, service, and scholarship activities.

Throughout my tenure, I've taken on various Course Coordinator roles, steering initiatives like the implementation and redesign of the Integrated Case Studies course and, more recently, Integrated Pharmacotherapy. Since 2019, I've been entrusted with the role of overseeing skills development as the coordinator of skills for IP1-12, allowing me to contribute to the foundational development of future pharmacists. It's been a fulfilling experience to shape these courses, ensuring they align with the evolving landscape of pharmacy education.

Recently, I assumed the crucial responsibility of Interim Student Services Coordinator, adding a new dimension to my contributions within academia. Moreover, I'm eagerly anticipating my upcoming role as the Chair for the Laboratory Special Interest Group (Lab SIG) within the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). This opportunity to lead at a national level underscores my commitment to advancing pharmacy education beyond the confines of my institution.

My dedication to pharmacy education runs parallel to my clinical practice at Trinity Health Grand Rapids. This hands-on experience allows me to bring real-world insights into my teachings, bridging the gap between theory and practice.
