The need for qualified healthcare administrators continues to rise as Ferris stands among the nation’s best in training future professionals prepared to step forward. In addition, Ferris officials note that the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment opportunities for medical and health services managers will increase by 32 percent between 2019 to 2029, with a national median wage is $100,980 per year.

“Since graduating from the MHA program, I started a new position at Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit as the lead PET-CT (positron emission tomography and computed tomography) technologist. I’ve had the pleasure of overseeing many research studies with some of the brightest cancer and neurological imaging researchers in the United States,” said MHA alumnus Jeremy Heinrich, an adjunct instructor at Ferris. “Since I started this position, I have had the chance to interview and hire two subordinates, change and upgrade ancillary department equipment, and I am in the process of a capital purchase of a new PET-CT scanner for the department. All while utilizing skills I gleaned from the Master of Healthcare Administration program.”

Ferris’ program, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education, ranked 21st in a field that includes the likes of Purdue University (5th), the University of Maryland (13th) and Pennsylvania State University (49th). The ranking places the MHA program among larger public and private universities and others emphasizing healthcare academic programs.

Graduates of the Master of Healthcare Administration program can work in various capacities, including as healthcare executives and administrators charged with planning, coordinating, organizing and supervising healthcare services in communities across Michigan, the Midwest and nationally. Their work includes compliance with healthcare laws and regulations and understanding technology and service trends that benefit communities.

Ferris’ Master of Healthcare Administration courses are 100 percent online and can be completed in two years. Students work closely with experienced faculty while completing a specialized capstone project in a healthcare setting of the student’s choice.
