Ferris Ranks in the Top 30 of Best Master of Public Health Programs Nationally

Master of Public Health

Online Master’s Degrees ranked Ferris’ Master of Public Health program among the nation’s best.

Ferris State University has been at the forefront of recognizing the increasingly important role of public health professionals in communities across Michigan and beyond. That Ferris emphasis was recognized by Online Master’s Degrees, which ranked Ferris’ Master of Public Health program among the nation’s best.

Ferris ranked 29th in a field that includes the likes of the University of South Carolina (1st), the University of Minnesota (3rd) and the University of Florida (9th) and the University of Michigan (10th). Ferris’ MPH program ranks ahead of numerous large public and private colleges and universities.

“The recognition of our Master of Public Health program as one of the best in the nation is terrific,” said Emmanuel Jadhav, an associate professor, and program coordinator of the Public Health program in Ferris’ College of Health Professions. “Our program graduates are engaged in public health practice in Michigan, the region and across the nation. This recognition is reflective of their work, as much as it is of our program and its relevance to the needs of public health.”

The Master of Public Health program is delivered 100 percent online and includes flexible internships in rural and suburban practices. The 42-credit-hour program positions graduates for careers including, but not limited to health educators, community health administrators, environmental health managers, epidemiologist and nutritionists.

In its profile of Ferris, Online Master’s Degrees further cited the availability of academic counseling and career services for students.

The program’s curriculum is practice-centered, it is evidence-based and culminates in a 180-hour capstone experience that could be fulfilled at one of Ferris’ academic health department partners in rural and suburban populations of Michigan.

“Our program is designed to be relevant to our students who are typically balancing work and family commitments while seeking opportunities to grow professionally,” Jadhav said. “The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that the public health workforce will continue to grow over the next decade. Ferris State University is ready to prepare students to meet those demands.”
