Homecoming 2023 Celebration Set for Sept. 30, Details on Theme, Game Time to Follow

Homecoming 2023 date announced

Ferris State University’s 97th Homecoming is set for Saturday, Sept. 30, with the back-to-back NCAA Division II champion Bulldogs hosting Northern Michigan University. In addition to the football game, Homecoming is also popular for the parade from downtown to campus, tailgating, reunions and more.

The official Ferris State University Homecoming 2023 celebration date is Saturday, Sept. 30. Among the known highlights is the two-time defending NCAA Division II National Champion Bulldog football team hosting Northern Michigan University in its 97th Homecoming showdown.

Director of Alumni Relations Brandi Behrenwald said additional details related to the 2023’s Homecoming Week schedule, including the game’s start time, are still to be announced. Traditional Homecoming events include the parade, tailgating and various reunions. Behrenwald said offering alums and others with Homecoming 2023 save-the-date information early should be helpful for people planning to visit campus.

“Our Center for Student Involvement has a Homecoming Committee, whose contribution is to identify the week’s theme, will also reach a contract for a comedian to entertain on campus during that week,” Behrenwald said. “We enjoy great participation from our students, alumni, faculty and staff, which makes Homecoming one of the year’s biggest events.”

The Bulldog football team has an off week before its Homecoming contest. The 2021 and 2022 NCAA Division II National Champions face the University of Montana, a Football Championship Subdivision opponent, on the road on Saturday, Sept. 16. Northern Michigan completed its 2022 season 4-7. The Wildcats will arrive in Big Rapids following an off week. NMU’s 2023 Homecoming game is against Wisconsin-LaCrosse on Sept. 16 in Marquette.

“Ferris’ success in football has really helped Homecoming to grow in stature over the last several years,” Behrenwald said. “We see alumni from all age groups and hear from them before the game, thanks to their great interest in returning to campus and celebrating the program’s success with classmates and friends.”
