Biography

I have over 30 years of experience in health care. My experiences range from the skills to be a Certified Nurses Aid to Licensed Practical Nurse in both the nursing home and hospital setting. I continued my educational journey to become a Registered Nurse where I worked as a bedside nurse and progressed to Clinical Manager of In-Patient services which included Intensive Care, Progressive Care and the Medical/Surgical/Pediatric Unit and all of the certified nurse aids in the hospital at Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial. Congruently I started working in education for Ferris State University as both Clinical Nurse Faculty for the undergraduate students and Adjunct Professor in the RN to BSN program. Finally, I became an Associate Professor at Ferris State University and the Graduate Program Coordinator.

I have worked for a rural hospital, as a staff nurse, charge nurse, nursing supervisor, and as a Clinical Manager. I continue to maintain clinical competence as a House Supervisor at the rural hospital. My experience has been in orthopedic, medical/ surgical, progressive/intensive care and leadership. In addition to my experience in acute care, I also spent time working as an adjunct faculty/clinical faculty member at Ferris State University, mainly focusing on clinical teaching for students at the medical/surgical level. I am a member of the National League or Nursing, American Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau Kappa Epsilon and Iota Chapters.
