Biography
Sharon Colley has an ADN from West Shore Community College, a BSN and MSN from Ferris State University, a PhD in Higher Education Leadership from Western Michigan University, and a DNP in nursing leadership from Ferris State University. She has also earned a Certification in Nursing Education from the National League of Nursing, and is an Advanced Certified Autism Specialist and Certified Neurodiversity Professional. Sharon joined the School of Nursing at FSU in 2002, and prior to that worked as a nurse in various areas including mental health, med-surg, rehab, and ambulatory surgery.
Sharon has participated in numerous curricula creations and revisions. She has served as the program coordinator for the BSN, RN-BSN, and MSN programs, and has a key role in tracking assessment of course and program outcomes. In addition to classroom teaching, Sharon has experience teaching in the clinical setting, laboratory, and on-line. Sharon was presented the Sigma Theta Tau International Kappa Epsilon Chapter Excellence in Education Award and the COHP Innovative Teaching Award in 2014, the FSU Distinguished Teacher Award in 2016, and was a nominee for Michigan Distinguished Professor of the Year, Michigan Association of State Universities in 2017. Sharon serves as an editorial board member for the Journal of Nursing Education, and as a peer-reviewer for several other journals.
