Biography

Julie is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Ferris State University. She has a background as a Registered Nurse, specializing in the areas of critical care and perioperative services. She obtained her MSN from Walden University with an emphasis in nursing education, and completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Ferris State University. Her DNP project focused on increasing utilization of a peer support program to reduce stress reactions in healthcare providers following distressing workplace events. Julie is passionate about improving the health and well-being of individuals throughout the communities where she lives and works. Through her teaching, scholarship, and service, Julie strives to cultivate an environment where each individual can flourish. She currently serves as a mentor and volunteer at a support group for adolescent mothers. And finally, she is certified as an ASIST trained suicide intervention provider, as well as a SafeTALK suicide awareness trainer, seeking to build suicide safer communities.
