Subject Information
The Natural Sciences examination contains 120 questions to be answered in 90 minutes.
The content of the questions emphasizes the knowledge and application of the basic principles and concepts of science, the comprehension of scientific information, and the understanding of issues of science in contemporary society.
Students should consider taking the exam if they can demonstrate the following abilities:
- knowledge of fundamental facts, concepts, and principles
- interpretation and comprehension of information presented in the form of graphs, diagrams, tables, equations, or verbal passages
- qualitative and quantitative application of scientific principles including applications based on material presented in the form of graphs, diagrams, tables, equations, or verbal passages; more emphasis is given to qualitative than quantitative applications.
Computer-based Scoring
CLEP computer-based (CBT) exams are scored without a penalty for incorrect guessing. The raw score--the number of correct responses--is translated into a scaled score. The scaled scores for CLEP CBT are reported in a range from 20 to 80.
At Ferris, candidates taking the Natural Sciences exam earn credit for a score of 50 or higher.
