Future Honors Students

How to Apply

The Honors Program at Ferris State University requires a separate application from the one you completed to attend Ferris.

Campus in the fall

For First Year students (most recent full-time education was high school)

Students who have applied to Ferris State University and have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale are especially encouraged to apply. Those who don't have a 3.5 high school GPA but do have an SAT score of 1150 or higher or an ACT score of 25 or higher are also invited to apply.

Students who are close to meeting the criteria and have records of significant and meaningful extracurricular academic achievement, outstanding community service or exemplary leadership positions will be considered as well. Being in the top 10% of the graduating class is also a plus.

To apply to the Honors program, each student must complete an application.

Honors PRogram Requirements Can be fulfilled at any Ferris campus and online

The Honors Program's requirements are adaptable to any campus location. Honors students maintain a 3.3 GPA or above, attend six cultural events per year and do 30 hours of service per year. They may fulfill these co-curricular requirements wherever they are living as well as online.

To receive one of our certificates, honors students may do honors contracts instead of taking honors courses. In an honors contract, students do an extra project in a non-honors class for honors credit. The project is not for a grade and takes 15 - 45 hours to do. The instructor must agree to oversee the project.

The honors advisor is available to students at all campus locations and online for help in fulfilling honors requirements and making the most of their honors experience.
