Ferris State University has collaborated with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Pentagon, and Fortune 500 companies to develop the only ABET accredited fully online cybersecurity program in the country. The Ferris Information Security and Intelligence program is recognized as a National Security Agency Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education and a Center of Digital Forensic Academic Excellence by the Department of Defense and Air Force Cyber Command.

At Ferris, you will build the information security skills you need to protect critical systems of all sizes and prepare for new threats. Accelerate your career in fast-growing areas such as digital forensics and penetration testing (ethical hacking).

You will also work side-by-side with our highly respected faculty to become an expert in the field of intelligence. You will be ready for a career in data analytics, database administration, project management, and other areas.

Online and On your schedule

Work on your classes when and where it works for you with the flexibility and convenience of online classes. The online option isn’t just traditional classes with an internet spin. It is web-native, built specifically for the online learning environment by our industry expert faculty and course designers. Engage in lectures and collaborate with your peers and instructors wherever you are.

You also have the option to complete this program in-person at our main campus Big Rapids for a unique hands-on learning experience.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the Information Security and Intelligence program, you must have the following:

New Student Admission Requirements

  • Minimum 3.00 High School GPA (on a 4.00 scale)
  • Minimum Composite ACT score of 22 and ACT Math score of 22 or SAT Math score of 550.
  • All students applying for admission to the Information Security and Intelligence program will have to submit a 750 to 1,000 word essay that addresses the following:
    • Who they are and why they desire admission to the Information Security and Intelligence program.
    •  A description of a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution, or experience.
    • A description of someone that influenced them and why.

Transfer Student Admission Requirements

  • Combined college or university GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) from all institutions attended.
  • GPA is based on completion of 24 credit hours or more.
  • Completion of the transfer equivalency for Ferris State University’s MATH 115 with a grade of C or higher or have either a minimum ACT Math score of 22 or SAT Math score of 550.
  • All students applying for admission to the Information Security and Intelligence program will have to submit a 750 to 1,000 word essay that addresses the following:
    •  Who they are and why they desire admission to the Information Security and Intelligence program.
    •  A description of a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution, or experience.
    •  A description of someone that influenced them and why.
