Biography

Kathryn Niemeyer PhD, MSc, MSN, FNP-BC, RN
Kathryn Niemeyer is a PhD prepared Family Nurse Practitioner with a second Master’s degree in Herbal Medicine. She teaches at FSU and has a small private integrative health practice in northern Michigan.
Kathryn teaches undergraduate and graduate evidence-based practice courses, graduate systems leadership and health theory courses and undergraduate integrative nursing. While at FSU, Kathryn developed the DNP program and is involved in conducting research on integrative health with breast cancer. She has had several articles and book chapters published, and provides peer-review for a variety of professional journals. In 2017, Kathryn had the opportunity to assist the USDA test and refine a web-delivered database on herbal medicine and in 2019, she consulted on marketing for an herbal based nutritional supplement. While a PhD student at the University of Arizona, Kathryn was the recipient of a 3-year NIH-NCCAM fellowship in Whole Systems of Complementary and Integrative Medicine through the School of Family and Community Medicine. She did her dissertation in herbal medicine. She has been a FNP in internal medicine, women's health and family health. Prior clinical background includes 17 years in critical care nursing as an RN and clinical nurse specialist and while working in critical care she taught for 10 years at the assistant, adjunct, and clinical professor levels.
