The First Lady’s Attic program at Ferris State University is welcoming donations of traditional dress clothing to be provided to students. There is a specific need for gently used dress shoes, men’s belts and all varieties of women’s clothing and accessories. Shown here is senior Linden Cota checking out the inventory.

Ferris State University’s First Lady’s Attic continues to serve as a no-cost resource for students seeking professional clothing and accessories to assist their pursuits of internships, employment and other opportunities that require business-professional attire.

Elise Gramza, an administrative assistant in the Diversity, Inclusion and Strategic Initiatives Office, oversees the First Lady’s Attic.

“Students continue to visit First Lady’s Attic as they prepare for job interviews, internships, presentations, and other events,” Gramza said. “We saw a significant increase in student visits in the last academic year, as more than 300 came to us for at least one clothing item. We are so happy to be here for our students and pleased they can find the items they need.”

The First Lady’s Attic was established in 2009 at the suggestion of Patsy Eisler, the wife of David Eisler, the immediate past president. Gramza said the First Lady’s Attic continues to serve a significant role in assisting students in their career and social pursuits, and they welcome donations of quality clothing and accessories.

“There is always a need for dress shoes, accessories like men’s belts and all kinds of women’s clothing,” Gramza said. “It is most helpful to receive timeless or newer designs and we recently established a 20-item limit from any donor. We hope to provide quality options for our students to consider, so they can examine responsive and appropriate stock to their needs.”

The First Lady’s Attic is in David L. Eisler Center, room 134, and provides one complete outfit each year to a Ferris student seeking such attire.
