Campus Buildings, Residential Facilities in Gradual Return to Service for Spring 2023 Semester

The Rock Café and the Ferris Library for Information, Technology and Education (FLITE), pictured right, were among the first facilities to resume service as university employees returned from Holiday Break on Tuesday, Jan. 3. The first day of classes for the Spring 2023 semester is Monday, Jan. 9.

As the holiday break wrapped up, Ferris State University staff returned to campus on Tuesday, Jan. 3, before the Spring 2023 semester. Regular campus operations resumed ahead of a new semester of classes on Monday, Jan. 9.

Prepared for the return of students, Housing and Residence Life staff reopened residence halls and access to East Campus Suites and West Campus Apartments on Friday, Jan. 6 at 8 a.m.

Dining Services kicked off 2023 with The Rock Café opening from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Wednesday, Jan. 4 through Saturday, Jan. 7. The Rock returns to its 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. schedule Sunday, Jan. 8. The other campus dining facilities and outlets reopen Monday, Jan. 9 with regular hours.

The Center for Student Involvement has planned a “Spring Back” schedule of events in January, with the first being a “Make Your Own Charcuterie Board” on Tuesday, Jan. 10, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the upper lobby of the David L. Eisler Center. In addition, the traditional UCB Anniversary Party celebration takes place in the Eisler Center from 9 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14.

In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. national holiday, students do not have classes on Monday, Jan. 16. That day, Ferris begins its 37th annual MLK Celebration with an in-service for faculty and staff starting at 10 a.m. in the ballrooms of the David L. Eisler Center. The Freedom March begins at 4 p.m., departing the Rankin Atrium and at 5 p.m., social justice advocate Martese Johnson will offer a keynote address in the Eisler Center ballrooms.

The Ferris Library for Information, Technology and Education (FLITE) reopens on Friday, Jan. 6, with hours scheduled as 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Ferris Racquet and Fitness Center began a 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 3, and set hours for Friday, Jan. 6, of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The weekend before the start of the Spring 2023 semester, they will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The Student Recreation Center reopened Friday, Jan. 6, with an 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. schedule, then entered their typical hours of service Saturday, Jan. 7, heading into the new semester.
