Wintermester Opportunities Outlined for Ferris State Students Seeking Degree Advancement, General Education Gains

Wintermester

Now in its sixth year, Wntermester at Ferris State University is an opportunity to earn full credit through an online course between the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters.

The sixth annual offering of Wintermester courses is underway, with registration continuing for Ferris State University students, in an opportunity to earn full credit through an online course between the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters.

Associate Dean of Extended and International Operations Jennifer Hegenauer said students interested in the 100-to-400 level, three-to-four credit courses running Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, to Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, should contact their advisor, and the appropriate college or dean’s office with any questions about specific subjects or offerings.

“The idea behind the accelerated format of Wintermester is to help students take advantage of the time between semesters and concentrate on a single course, rather than balancing their efforts between several classes in the normal term,” Hegenauer said. “For those who participate, benefits may include catching up on general education requirements, finishing degree requirements sooner, or evening their Spring course load over a longer timeframe.”

The university counts Wintermester instruction as Spring 2024 activity for those receiving financial aid. The homepage for this program offers a link to address student questions that may arise through their participation. Participants are advised that Wintermester coursework can involve daily interaction and the prospect of assignments from their instructor.
