BEYOND is an interdisciplinary campus-wide initiative to inform, engage and inspire our students to be successful in our diverse and globalized world. The office of International Education (OIE) coordinates this collaborative initiative. The initiative is designed to connect Ferris’ general education outcomes to co-curricular experiences to bring global awareness and encourage students to study abroad.
Each academic year, BEYOND highlights the growing interconnectedness of today's world through a specific theme.
BEYOND previous themes:
- 2012 - 13 BEYOND: Silk Road
- 2013 - 14 BEYOND: Mythologies
- 2014 - 15 BEYOND: Diversity
The theme for this academic year is BEYOND Globalization. Faculty and individual academic programs that align with the Globalization theme in their course outcomes are invited to be part of the BEYOND initiative. Faculty members can incorporate a topic related to globalization as an outcome for their course. The BEYOND team, working with faculty, can coordinate events and activities related to the topic. This encourages dialog both inside and outside the classroom and can lead to cross-disciplinary dialog
The BEYOND series will include four signature events:
- Minds Aflame,
- Study Abroad Fair,
- Interactive BEYOND Exhibit and
- International Festival of Cultures.
