Process and Requirements

The National Scholarships are awarded mainly to students preparing to graduate high school. It is a selective process aimed at attracting students who have shown potential as scholars, athletes, and leaders.

• Applications open in the middle of June between the applicants Junior and Senior year of high school. February of the applicants senior year is when the application must be started by, and the documentation deadline is March.
• Boards for the process occur in October, January, and March.
• Submit HS transcripts, SAT or ACT scores, and conduct an interview and fitness assessment.
• The GPA minimum requirement is 2.5 for high school students.
• DODMERB medical process begins when selected for a scholarship.

Service Obligation

Between their junior and senior years, cadets will rank order their preferred job branches and Army component (Active, Reserve, or Guard). They will also be expected to meet all the requirements of being a contracted cadet.

The active duty requirement is a minimum four year service time as full time officers. For the National Guard and Reserve, the typical service requirement is six years, plus two years of inactive reserve time. During their six years, they will attend drill one weekend a month and two weeks a year of training as commissioned officers. The rest of their time will be spent in their civilian career of choice.

Process and Requirements

Campus-based scholarships are mainly used for students already attending college. They can be anywhere from two years in length to four years in length. Much of the discretion for these scholarships lies with the cadre of the Ferris State program.

• The minimum GPA requirements is 2.5, but above a 3.0 is preferred.
• Applicants must be able to pass an Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT).
• Applicants must demonstrate their leadership abilities and their desire to be a part of the program.
• Students who participate in extracurricular activities/athletics are preferred.

Designed for enlisted soldiers with at least two years of their college program remaining. Green to Gold (G2G) offers enlisted Soldiers another route to obtain their degree and their commission. 

• Be under the age of 31
• Be within two to four years of obtaining a bachelor's degree
• No domestic violence convictions
• Have a minimum of two years active duty time. This includes three months of active duty time for every month of specialized training.
• 110 GT Score
• ACFT pass within six months
• High school or college GPA of 2.5 or greater
• Letter of acceptance from ROTC school
• Letter of accpetance from PMS of ROTC Battalion
• DODMERB medical qualification
• Eligible to reenlist
• Not be a conscientious objector
• No more than three dependents including spouse
