Donations from Ferris State University departments and programs and Kendall College of Art and Design students will be available for bid Thursday, Dec. 8, in a Silent Auction to support the university’s United Way campaign.

Broad-based efforts to meet and exceed Ferris State University’s donation goal for the Mecosta-Osceola United Way campaign include a silent auction. The event is an opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind items and other desirable packages from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, in the Founders’ Room of the David L. Eisler Center.

“We have quite an impressive list of choices this year,” said Jeanine Ward-Roof, Ferris’ vice president for Student Affairs and co-chair of the United Way committee. “The skills of Kendall College Art and Design students provided us with a wonderful landscape painting and a beautiful handmade quilt. Our Athletics Department came through with unique contributions that could be a special gift for a Ferris sports fan and those who love hockey or other major sports.”

Ward-Roof said there are auction packages that include beer and wine ensembles, personal care collections and various items ahead of the Christmas season.

“We are so happy to have received everything someone would need that they didn’t realize they were needing,” Ward-Roof said. “Our bidders will help us push toward a $40,000 United Way campaign goal and support those in this community who need our help the most.”

United Way campus committee members hosted various activities during the fall to work toward the donation goal. University employees can view these Silent Auction items during a holiday celebration in the David L. Eisler Center on the afternoon of Dec. 8. More information on the auction is available by emailing Angie Hollister, the executive assistant to the vice president for Student Affairs.
