Summer Internships: Noah Kent

Ferris State University students gain valuable work experience through internships. Internships also can confirm or redirect career decision-making, provide marketability, develop people skills and enhance classroom learning. Many academic programs require one, but the experience is encouraged regardless to provide students with a better understanding of what will be expected of them in the workplace.

Many students are participating in internships this summer. Meet:

Noah KentNoah Kent

He is: a senior from Alpena with a Major in Business Administration and a Certificate in Marketing.

His Internship/Making a Difference: Noah is working with Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Green Bay, Wisconsin. “The best thing about interning with Enterprise is that they allowed me to learn about all the aspects involved in running the business. I have gained experience in customer service, sales, management, leadership, finance and other elements of operations. I am making a difference by working hard and learning as much as I can. This has allowed me to help push my team so that we can perform to the best of our abilities.”

Did Ferris Help You In Securing the Internship? “I found out about this internship through the Career Fair on campus. I was able to research Enterprise through Handshake before I met with their representative on campus.”

Future Plans: “I plan to attend graduate school after I finish my last year of school here at Ferris. I hope that this internship provides a solid foundation of experience that I can use moving forward in my professional career.”

Advice For Students Seeking Internships: “Now that I know what an internship has the potential to offer, I wish I had searched for some after my freshman and sophomore years, rather than just waiting until after my junior year. An internship gives you the right amount of time to see if you like the field of work without being completely committed to it as your career. The classroom only offers so much, so get out there and gain as much experience as you can, while still being able to enjoy your years at college.”

Ferris Core Values Noah Relates to: “I believe the biggest ones for me are learning, collaboration and excellence. I love learning about business and the practices that go along with it. It does not matter if it’s through work experience or classroom experience, but I will never turn down the chance to learn something new. Collaboration and teamwork have also been a huge part of my life, and both have helped me through the beginning of my professional career as well. I also strive for excellence in everything I do, and Ferris has helped me achieve it along the way.”
