Ferris Ranked Among Top Midwest Regional Public Schools by U.S. News and World Report

Ferris State UniversityFerris State University’s strong regional and statewide reputation has again been recognized by U.S. News and World Report. In the publication's 2018 Best Colleges Rankings, U.S. News and World Report highlighted Ferris programs in several key academic categories.

Ferris tied for 18th among the top Midwest regional public schools. Additionally, the university tied for 83rd, overall, among the Midwest’s top regional universities. A commitment to a positive campus atmosphere, for veterans, was reflected in the 2018 rankings. Ferris was ranked tied for 52nd among Midwest regional universities in the “Best Colleges for Veterans” category. Among Midwest regional institutions, in the “Best Value Schools” category, Ferris ranked 69th. The university was also recognized in “Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs,” among Midwest regional schools, tied for 92nd.

The U.S. News and World Report rankings are based on numerous factors, including campus life, financial aid, the first-year retention rate of students, quality of the faculty, range of academic programs and graduation rate.

Three Ferris programs were included in the “Online Programs Rankings.” The university ranked in the top 100 for “Best Online Graduate Nursing Programs,” tied for No. 68, and “Best Online Bachelor’s Programs,” tied for No. 76. In “Best Online MBA Programs,” Ferris was tied for 115th.

In the “U.S. News Best Grad Schools Rankings,” Ferris had three ranked programs. The Doctor of Pharmacy tied for No. 60. Ferris’ Kendall College of Art and Design’s Master of Fine Arts was tied for No. 114. The Master of Social Work was tied for 220th.

Ferris started the 2017-18 academic year with a total university-wide enrollment of 13,798 students. Included in this figure is a total of 9,868 students on main campus, in Big Rapids. Classes, for the Fall 2017 semester, began Aug. 28.
