Coronavirus Campus Information and Updates 

There has been a lot of health information in the news lately regarding the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in China.  The university continues to follow CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and WHO (World Health Organization) updates and guidelines regarding the Coronavirus.

Flu Season Information 

The U.S. is experiencing a highly active flu season. Flu (influenza) can cause mild to severe respiratory symptoms and can be extremely harmful and even deadly to small children, the elderly, and people who are more susceptible to catching an illness. 

It is important to do the following to help prevent catching and spreading the flu:

  • Get your flu shot! 
    • The CDC recommends everyone 6 months and older receive the vaccine.  Birkam Health Center offers free flu shots to all students, faculty, and staff at Ferris State University.  If you have not received your flu shot this year, please contact the Birkam Health Center by calling 231-591-2614 or walk-in for an appointment today.
  • Avoid catching the flu by
    • Washing your hands (20 seconds or more with soap and water)
    • Avoiding close contact with others who are sick
    • Avoiding touching eyes, nose or mouth
    • Getting enough sleep
    • Eating a balanced diet
  • Avoid spreading the flu by
    • Staying home when you’re sick
    • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing
    • Wearing a mask can help.  Masks available for free at Birkam Health Center.
    • Washing your hands (20 seconds or more with soap and water)
