Athletic Pep Band

About the Athletic Pep Band

The FSU Athletic Pep Band performs for home games of the Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Hockey, and select Volleyball games.

Band members conduct themselves in a spirited manner that promotes the goals of Education, Ambassadorship and Community at all rehearsals, performances and band social events. The Athletic Pep Band is not an academic class but its members can qualify for an Activity-Based Scholarship (ABS).

The Athletic Pep Band staff and individual band members promote educational opportunities at rehearsals and performances and individually strive for and encourage academic excellence.

Ambassadorship

Ferris State University Athletic Pep Band members strive to exhibit the highest levels of musicianship and school spirit. Band members represent Ferris State University, the College of Arts, Sciences and Education, the Department of Humanities, the Music for Life philosophy of the Music Program, themselves, and the community of Big Rapids, Michigan. Band members support the sportsmanship vision as set forth by Bulldog Athletics, GLIAC and NCAA regulations.

Community

The Ferris State University Athletic Pep band promotes group unity during rehearsals, performances and social events. Band members promote a relationship with Big Rapids, Michigan, its surrounding communities, family, and alumni band members.

Band Membership

Athletic Pep Band Membership is open to any Ferris student at the sole discretion of the Faculty Director. New Band Members must participate in only one playing interview. All band members must complete the Membership Application and Contract. There are four types of band membership: Regular Band Membership, Reserve Band Membership, Provisional Band Membership and High School Band Membership (see contract for descriptions).

Rehearsals

Sunday and Thursday Evenings, 7:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
