About the Orchestra

The FSU West Central Chamber Orchestra (WCCO) is a string orchestra comprising Ferris State University students, adult community members and select students from throughout West Central Michigan. The WCCO is a string orchestra that plays a wide variety of musical styles from many different periods. We invite all experienced players of string instruments to join the West Central Chamber Orchestra.

Membership

Open to University students, adult community members and select school students. A playing interview is required.

Rehearsals

Tuesdays, 7:00–8:30 p.m.

Credit

Yes! Music 271: Chamber Orchestra.
Meets General Education requirements: Cultural Enrichment. 1 Credit, repeatable.

Scholarships

Yes! Activity-Based Scholarships awarded based on attendance, contributions to ensemble and number of performances.

In most circumstances, students must be members in good standing with their ensemble and its director, and students must participate in the ensemble in both the Fall and Spring semesters. Please contact Dr. Dale Skornia ([email protected]) for specific requirements and expectations for your ensemble.

The scholarships are awarded as Ability-Based Scholarships by the Office of the Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences and Education. A maximum of $1,500 can be awarded in a single year, and specific rules govern the award.
