A. Purpose Statement

The Transfer Credit Policy at Ferris State University (FSU) facilitates the acceptance and application of transfer credits to support students’ progress toward degree completion. The policy encompasses credits from regionally accredited institutions, non-regionally accredited institutions, and American Council on Education (ACE)-recommended courses. 

B. Policy


Ferris State University (FSU) accepts transfer credit from regionally accredited institutions when the coursework is deemed equivalent to an FSU course or general transfer credit.

FSU accepts credit from non-regionally accredited institutions, foreign institutions and institutions which grant credit for experiential learning for non-traditional adult learner programs when deemed equivalent. The Office of Transfer and Secondary Partnerships coordinates, in consultation with the respective college, department and/or program to review all potential and current course equivalencies. Requests to have transfer credit fulfill requirements in a major, minor, concentration, or certificate are subject to the approval of the college, department, or program.

C. Audience


The intended audience for this policy are current and prospective students, academic advisors, faculty, college staff, the Registrar, and admissions staff.
