Policy
A program academic minor shall consist of at least 18 semester credits in an area apart from the primary focus of the major of the student’s baccalaureate degree program. An average GPA of 2.0 or higher must be achieved for the courses within the minor. A department may require an average GPA higher than 2.0 for the minor with the approval of the Academic Senate and the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs.
- A minimum of nine (9) of the credits in the minor must be at the 200 or above level (Supported by the Academic Senate on December 2, 2003).
- At least fifty percent (50%) of the credits must be Ferris State University credits.
- A maximum of 1/3 of the credits, but no more than 7 credit hours, in a minor may overlap with the student’s major (Supported by the Academic Senate on March 13, 2001).
- Up to 6 credit hours may overlap between any two minors (Supported by the Academic
Senate on April 19, 2001).
All credits in a certificate may overlap with a minor.
