Drew Myers

Drew Myers excels at keeping busy. Traveling abroad, holding two positions in Ferris State University student organizations and having an on-campus job is indicative of a lot of responsibility. On top of all that, Myers is graduating from Ferris a year early, in December 2019. All that considered, it's safe to say this Public Relations senior is unstoppable.

Myers knows Ferris and the Big Rapids area. Growing up in nearby Stanwood, just south of Big Rapids, and graduated from Morley Stanwood High School, in 2015. Myers decided she wanted to stay close to home and enrolled at Ferris, in Fall 2015, majoring in PR with a minor in Sports Communication.

Myers is an involved Ferris student. She is a member of the Figure Skating Club, Alpha Xi Delta and the Public Relations Student Society of America. Through Alpha Xi Delta, she is the new-member orientation director. In PRSSA, she serves as social media manager.

“The biggest thing I have learned, from all these organizations, is to step out of your comfort zone, and you will learn a lot about yourself.” Myers said. “Also, you can make some of your best friends by involving yourself, heavily, on campus.”

In May 2017, Myers chose to study abroad, in Italy, where she visited Rome, Capri, Florence, Venice and Pisa. The trip was an opportunity for her to learn about the many cultures she heard about, but never had a chance to experience, firsthand.

Working on Ferris' Big Rapids campus, Myers is often found inside Timme Center, working in the Student Financial Services office, as a student assistant. She has worked in SFS since her freshman year. Myers assists as a customer-service representative, answering student questions.

“This job has helped me greatly because it exposes me to different people, every day, and has helped me grow my people skills while also teaching me valuable lessons,” Myers said.

After graduation, Myers sees herself moving to Grand Rapids or out of Michigan, to Tennessee. Her goal is to work in sports, focusing on something community relations-or PR-related. Her dream job is to work in the Public Relations Department for the National Football League's Detroit Lions.

“The skills I have developed, in Ferris' PR program, will forever set me apart from my competition,” Myers said.
