As president of the Music Industry Management Association and Entertainment Unlimited’s Ferris Fest co-chair, Nicole Finch has helped coordinate the largest music events on campus.

“I’m really proud of being in MIMA,” said Finch, a Grand Rapids native majoring in Music Industry Management, a College of Business program. “That’s what I really enjoy, and it has definitely been the highlight of my career at Ferris.”

Finch’s love for music was fueled when she started attending live shows during her high school years.

“I thought (concerts) were the greatest thing ever, and I knew I wanted to something with live entertainment,” Finch said. “I went on a couple college tours in high school just to make my parents happy, but I was set on Ferris when I heard about the Music Industry Management program. There was no question about it.”

When she arrived on campus as a freshman, Finch got involved with MIMA, a student organization that functions as a model production company and produces live events on campus such as Autumn Alive and Turn Up the Good. She also joined EU, the campus programming board, which hosts Ferris Fest. She has had a hand in helping to organize all three of the popular annual events, as well as coordinating Ferris Unplugged.

“If you really want to be successful in life, you have to throw yourself into everything you do and have a positive attitude,” Finch said. “I like keeping busy and being as involved as I can be.”

Finch will spend her summer in Nashville, Tenn., for an internship with Mercy Lounge Cannery Ballroom. She will gain experience in marketing, social media, ticket sales, merchandising and special events for the renowned music venue.

Finch plans to graduate in December with a Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Management with a minor in Special Event Planning. After graduation, she hopes to move to Nashville to pursue a career in music licensing.
