Travel Guidance

The Office of International Education provided an update on international travel and education abroad opportunities.

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March of 2020, international faculty and staff travel, faculty-led study abroad programs, and semester exchanges were suspended due to health and safety concerns.  We are happy to announce that the University is planning to resume these activities with appropriate health and safety measures in place. The Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs have provided the following timeline for the resumption of international travel and Education Abroad opportunities.

  1. International Travel for Faculty and Staff – Approved University-related international travel for faculty and staff is now able to resume. Faculty and staff seeking to travel internationally for University business should follow the international travel guidance of the U.S. Department of State and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, paying particular attention to travel and entry requirements pertaining to COVID-19 in destination countries.
  1. Semester Exchange Programs – Outbound semester exchange study abroad opportunities at partner universities will resume in the Spring 2023 semester. Students interested in studying on a semester exchange will coordinate with the Office of International Education to ensure academic, travel, health, and safety preparation is in line with University policies and procedures, CDC and Department of State guidance, and travel and entry requirements pertaining to COVID-19 in destination countries.
  1. Faculty-Led Study Abroad Programs – Faculty-led study abroad programs will resume in the Summer 2023 semester. The Office of International Education will host three Zoom sessions for faculty who are exploring or planning to submit Faculty-Led Study Abroad Proposals for the Summer 2023 semester. At the Zoom sessions, we will discuss the plans for the proposal timeline, process, and program procedures as it will be important to factor in COVID-19 planning and precautions. The Office of International Education will host additional Zoom sessions in the Summer 2022 and early Fall 2022 semesters. Summer 2023 study abroad proposals will be due in the early part of the Fall 2022 semester. Details will be forthcoming.

When preparing for domestic or international travel, please review the University's Travel Policy.
