MLK events rescheduled at Ferris State
Ferris State University has announced its 2025 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration events have been rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 23.
BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —

Ferris State University has rescheduling of events for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration for Thursday, Jan. 23.

Ferris State canceled events scheduled for earlier in the week due to dangerously cold temperatures sweeping across the state.

David Pilgrim, vice president for Diversity, Inclusion and Strategic Initiatives, announced the rescheduling on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

One of the annual celebration’s signature events, the Freedom March, has been reset for Thursday, Jan. 23, at 4 p.m., starting at the Rankin Atrium Stage of the David L. Eisler Center on the Big Rapids campus. Marchers will gather at the stage before moving outside for the quick march that will return participants to the Eisler Center to limit exposure to winter’s cold temperatures.

Following the Freedom March, a Civil Rights Trivia event will be held at Eisler Center Ballroom C, beginning at 5 p.m.
