Newly admitted Ferris State students could be eligible for the Bulldog Bonus scholarship, lowering the cost of higher education

Ferris State offers Bulldog Bonus Scholarship for incoming and new transfer students
A Bulldog Bonus Scholarship is available for Fall 2025’s new freshman or transfer students, with up to $1,000 available to those who complete processes that include completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or “FAFSA” form.
BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —

Newly admitted Ferris State University students can be eligible for as much as $1,000 through the Bulldog Bonus Scholarship, a program aimed at making a life-changing education more accessible.

Preparations for fall 2025 should include following and completing the Bulldog Bonus Scholarship checklist available online for first year and new transfer students ready to begin their Ferris journey.

Melanie Mulder, assistant director of Financial Aid, said a student’s Bulldog Bonus award will be determined by their estimated cost of attendance in accordance with federal financial aid regulations but could be as much as $1,000.

“We ask these recipients to apply to Ferris and gain admission by March 15, but our last virtual financial aid workshop will be offered the evening of Feb. 19,” Mulder said. “They will also have to complete the orientation process appropriate to their college or program and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or ‘FAFSA’ form by early March, in order to successfully meet the March 15 deadline.”

Mulder said new students will not see the Bulldog Bonus award on their initial financial aid award notices, as the funding will be added in mid-April.

Mulder added that Bulldog Bonus awards can be “stacked” with Ferris State’s Woodbridge N. Ferris Scholarship and full-time students in a degree-granting program will be those considered for the bonus.

“We will be able to process those bonus awards during the summer months, as the student’s orientation process or requirements are met,” Melanie said. “Filing early is recommended; any questions can be directed to our office through the Admissions Help Hotline.”
