Ferris State One Stop Shop helps students begin academic year successfully
Ferris State University will host a One-Stop Shop event on Saturday, Aug. 23, to help students address any needs they may have to begin the new academic year. Representatives from Admissions, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Housing and Residence Life will be available to work with students and their families.
BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —

Ferris State University is helping students begin the 2025-26 academic year successfully with an event that connects them with specialists covering financial aid, housing, advising and more at a One Stop Shop event on Saturday, Aug. 23.

The event will provide all essential services for students and families starting the 2025-26 year, with representatives from Admissions, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Housing and Residence Life, and Dining Services staff available to assist incoming students prior to the Aug. 25 start of classes.

The One Stop Shop is planned for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the first-floor lobby area of the Timme Center for Student Services building, 1201 South State Street, on the Big Rapids campus.

“From the lens of accessibility, our One Stop Shop is a great opportunity for students coming to campus, on Saturday, they will be able meet with Admissions, and have everything taken care of from finalizing their financial aid to meeting with academic advisors to get their classes scheduled and having their additional questions answered,” said Jeremy Lane, Ferris State’s associate vice president and dean of Enrollment Services. “We know these are important services and our staff wants to do what we can to help students get off to a good start.”

Services include admission applications, academic advising, financial aid, housing, and dining assistance.
Lane said these critical services are as important to parents and other loved ones as they are to students.

“We also know that opportunities like our One Stop Shop are important to parents who want to get a good feel for the campus,” he said. “They want to know where their student is going to be living, eating and taking classes. All things considered, we believe that this is a necessary function that is important to students, parents and our staff.”

Staff from campus offices will work with students to address questions related to the admissions process, including applications, by calling (231) 591-2000 during that timeframe.

August orientation is scheduled for Aug. 21.
