BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —

If tying a tie has become a lost art, Ferris State University’s Black Leaders Aspiring for Critical Knowledge members strive to change that trend, hosting a “Tie for a Tie” event on Tuesday, April 15.

“Tie for a Tie” is scheduled from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in Room 217 of the David L. Eisler Center at 805 Campus Drive on the Big Rapids campus.

“I think learning how to tie a tie is essential as students enter professional environments,” said Christopher Sanders, director of Ferris State’s Office of Multicultural Student Services. “Learning a new skill is always a confidence builder, and this is one that could help them secure a job, internship, professional conferences and other opportunities.”

Event goals for attending students include learning how to tie a necktie, with an opportunity to pick out a tie to keep and add to their wardrobe as they look to future professional occasions that could require wearing one.

“This is a great initiative that I hope can continue annually, and I would like to thank the leaders of B.L.A.C.K. and the Theta Theta Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity for taking the initiative in hosting this event,” Sanders said.
