Luke Edington assumes Ferris State Alumni Association board leadership, focused on assistance for current students, service to The Ferris Foundation

Luke Edington says Ferris State University played a major role in his successful career and wants to give back and inspire others as president of the Alumni Association Executive Board.
Edington is a 2014 graduate of the Plastics and Polymer Engineering Technology program graduate. He recently assumed the presidency of this volunteer partnership with the university’s Alumni Association.
He is the director of operations with 3DXTECH in Grand Rapids, a manufacturer creating materials to complement three-dimensional printing production. He has been on the Alumni Board since 2016 and is fully aware of what his Ferris State experience afforded him, personally and professionally.
“I know that if it were not for Ferris, I would not be as successful,” Edington said. “In my experience, I put ‘a little’ in and got a ton out of all my experiences.”
Edington has returned to campus to offer guest lectures to students and has had a role in the Industrial Technology and Management advisory board but is proud to lead the Alumni Board in new avenues of involvement for the university’s good.
“Our constitution has been rewritten to emphasize greater activity in recruiting and retaining Ferris students, along with providing them mentoring opportunities and job placement prospects,” Edington said. “All our board members recognize and value what we received as Ferris students and are excited to have greater engagement in fundraising for university initiatives, working as liaisons with The Ferris Foundation.”
Edington said these new causes will not diminish the traditional efforts to inform, entertain and interact with tens of thousands of Ferris State alumni across Michigan and the country.
“Our alumni events are working very well wherever we offer them. This includes Colorado, Florida, Texas, Arizona and in collaboration with Detroit’s major league sports franchises,” Edington said. “It is always a delight to be with other Bulldogs and share our good times. Our alumni can be confident that this schedule will continue and grow.”
The Alumni Board welcomes those wanting to acknowledge their interest in offering service and commitment to the board’s mission of supporting programs and activities to further the Ferris State strategic plan. There are over 20 alumni on the executive board and general membership of this group.
