Ferris State University students gain valuable work experience through internships. Internships also can confirm or redirect career decision-making, provide marketability, develop people skills and enhance classroom learning. Many academic programs require one, but the experience is encouraged regardless to provide students with a better understanding of what will be expected of them in the workplace.
Many students are participating in myriad internships this summer. Meet: Kalin Brehler
He is: a student from Traverse City, Mich. studying Computer Information Technology
Systems.
Internship: Brehler is completing his internship at Hagerty Insurance as a Support Services Team Member during the 2015 summer semester. He is working on tracking asset management, “Tech Refresh” and ticket queue responsibilities at the help desk.
What he is learning: He is learning how different departments work with each other on product development, marketing, and programming while expanding on his computer technology knowledge.
His future plans: “In the future I hope to finish up his degree and ideally stay on with the Hagerty Insurance organization throughout the year.”
The Core Value(s) I relate most with is: Ethical Community and Collaboration. The employees and employer relationship surprised me at Hagerty Insurance. People take care of each other there and work together to create a great atmosphere.
