CAD students receive $360,000 software donation

BIG RAPIDS - Unigraphics Solutions and Ferris' CAD Drafting and Tool Design program completed the distribution of the UGS Solid Edge V20 CAD software to each student in the program at no cost to the student, according to Mark Hill, professor of CAD Drafting and Tool Design, and program administrator for the UGS Grant.

UGS Solid Edge V20 software continues to drive design collaboration across all points of the value chain in support of Product Life Management, Hill said. Solid Edge incorporates practical tools for real-time problem solving that help designers and engineers become more productive and shorten design cycles.

"The add-ons like the Injection Mold Design package, the standard parts library and ability to create 3D parametric models with full product embedded GDT callouts utilizing ANSI 14.41 standards is a real plus for the CDTD students as we require all product and tooling communication to be electronic," he added.
