Biography

Mark Hutchinson has almost 20 years of health care experience in a variety of different settings, and has been teaching health care administration as an adjunct or tenured full time faculty member at the undergraduate and graduate level for over 15 years. Mark’s experience includes community planning, strategic planning, and quality improvement, and he is a former licensed nursing home administrator. Mark has taught a number of different courses in finance, long term care, quality improvement, strategic planning, and population health.

Mark’s professional experience includes working in strategic planning for Mercy Health - Saint Mary’s (Trinity Health), where he developed service line level market share reports, assisted with business plans, and prepared Certificate of Need applications. As the Director of Clinic Excellence for Spectrum Health United Memorial, he oversaw the quality program for two hospitals and two long term care facilities. In this role, He was also the project manager in the creation of a Coumadin Clinic for a large medical group.

Mark received his Doctoral in Public Health in Advocacy and Leadership from Capella University. He also holds a Masters of Public Administration degree with a Health Care Concentration from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration from Ferris State University. He previously served on the Boards of Choices West Counseling Services in Hart, Michigan, and the Michigan Critical Access Hospital Quality Network.
