Biography

Hi! I am one of 7 children, born & raised in the Eastern UP. My father practiced Veterinary Medicine & that is truly where my passion for the field of dentistry began, as I used to assist him with many dental procedures of his canine & feline patients. I graduated from the "FSC" Dental Hygiene program in 1987, with the honor of receiving the "Outstanding Clinician" award. Have since practiced clinical DHYG FT from 1987 - 2002, before returning to FSU for my BS in Allied Health Ed., then my MS in CTE/Instructor's Option. Worked FT as a CDH from 2004-2007, then as a Temp. FT faculty, then hired as a FT Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the FSU DHYG Program in 2008. ;-)
Since 1982, I have practiced in federally, state subsidized clinics & private practice. I have worked with/ for Oral Surgeons, Orthodontists, Periodontists & Endodontists in addition to General Practitioners. I came on board the FSU DHYG program full time in 2004. Since then, I have been privileged to be a part of the "Mission of Mercy" (free) dental clinics in 2013 & 2014, volunteering my dhyg services at Mel Trotter in GR, MI, raising funds (via reduced rate dental cleanings at a local DDS office) to ride in the WAM (Make A Wish) 300 mile bicycle ride in 2010 & the 50-Miler in 2016 & 2017. I have currently participated in 3 Guyana Dental Mission trips, since 2010, with several very awesome DHYG students & licensed dental professionals from around MI.
