Ferris Equity Initiative (FEI)
In partnership with EAB, the FEI will involve the most significant investment in diversity,
equity, and inclusion in the history of our University. Examples of these new efforts
will include:
- Diagnostics on Equity Best Practices, and Equity Mindedness
- Leadership Focus Groups
- Best Practice Task Forces
- Campus-Wide Equity and Student Success Convenings, and
- Change Management Training.
The intent of these campus-wide efforts is to develop Equity Mindedness. We will develop
practitioners throughout our campus prepared to recognize and act upon patterns of
inequity, especially in student outcomes. This work will require understanding of
inequities as a dysfunction of the structures, policies and practices we control.
At the core of this effort, we will build upon the vision of our founder, Woodbridge
Ferris and set a University-wide goal to eliminate achievement gaps at Ferris State
University. This is an institution challenged by the level of state funding they receive,
and the academic preparation of their students, but through an overarching university
focus has eliminating achievement gaps on its campus.
