DCCL Application and Admission Process

The goal of the DCCL admission process is to bring together a diverse and highly-qualified cohort of learners. The admission process is designed to select applicants who demonstrate the greatest potential for both successful doctoral-level work and, upon program completion, substantive contribution to the leadership of community colleges.

An applicant's admissions packet will be considered holistically along with all other packets for that cohort, with the goal of creating balance and diversity. Whenever possible, the cohort will represent geographically and demographically diverse institutions and individuals so that student input in courses reflects a variety of experiences.

The admissions committee will begin reviewing applications as a group on February 1st (for May cohort starts) and October 1 (for January cohort starts); however, applications will be accepted until the cohort is full.

DCCL Admissions Process for FSU Employees:

To ensure a variety of experiences within the cohort, the DCCL Program strives to maintain a healthy ratio (5:1) of community college or other higher education employees to FSU employees. As non-FSU applicants are added to the cohort, FSU employees will be added at the appropriate rate.
