Sarah Pirrami is a hard-working, dedicated student who symbolizes Ferris State University’s “learning” core value in her everyday student life. Between her on-campus job, as a student assistant in the CLACS (Center for Leadership, Activities and Career Services) office and her involvement in multiple student organizations, Pirrami is a learner, picking up fresh knowledge she applies to her academic success.

A senior in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education’ Biology program, with a concentration in pre-dental, the Macomb, Michigan native never expected to find her home on the state’s west side. When applying to colleges, Pirrami did not know where she wanted to go. She chose Ferris – planning to double-major in pre-dental and pre-dental hygiene. But, not long after arriving, she discovered that double-major plan was not a choice. Determined to pursue a career as a dentist, Pirrami enrolled in Biology and joined the Pre-Dental club, a campus registered student organization.

During her four years, at Ferris, Pirrami has assumed many responsibilities and positions in various student organizations. She serves as the Student Government vice president, she is a Student Government representative for the Big Rapids Downtown Business Association, fundraiser chair for the Pre-Dental Club, and an active member of Habitat for Humanity and Alpha Xi Delta. She further volunteers with the Ferris chapter of Love Your Melon.

Pirrami’s leadership skills have grown and flourished through her experiences and the knowledge she has gained. During the Spring 2018 semester, Pirrami is planning Ferris’ Torchbearer Awards, an April event. She received an opportunity, through her CLACS work, and is looking forward to using the skills she has learned, through her leadership roles, in planning the annual event.

After graduating in August 2018, Pirrami plans to move back home as she prepares to apply to dental school. She is now taking an online preparation course, twice a week, to help prepare her for graduate school. In the meantime, Pirrami continues to build a legacy as a Ferris student leader.
