Evan Pazkowski

Evan Pazkowski, a junior at Ferris State University, always answers when opportunity knocks. Any chance that he has to develop himself emotionally, professionally and socially is an opportunity that he is willing to take.

Pazkowski was born in Ann Arbor, but he moved to Saline at age 5. He resided there until moving to Big Rapids to attend college after graduating from Saline High School in 2011. Today, Pazkowski is a Marketing major and expects to graduate in May 2015.

Pazkowski has been involved in many activities throughout his time at Ferris. This year, he is the Ferris Fest 2014 coordinator, a voting member of the Finance Division, a new member of the American Marketing Association, the main host of Ferris Out Loud, a frequent guest on Ferris Trolls and an emcee for many events on campus. He has mastered the art of balancing his involvements with his social life.

“In high school, I was always more worried about my social life and having a good time while young. As I entered college, I began to find means for doing both at the same time,” Pazkowski said. “Ferris has shown me how to be involved, busy and happy at the same time and I wouldn’t trade that newly-acquired knowledge for the world.”

Being the main host of Ferris Out Loud is a new opportunity for Pazkowski this year. Ferris Out Loud is a half-hour show featuring students discussing the current happenings on campus. It is a show for students, by students. Each episode is produced by students enrolled in Ferris’ Television and Digital Media Production program.

Pazkowski agreed to appear on the show before discovering that each episode is taped live.  Although he was nervous, he was brave enough to step out of his comfort zone and take advantage of the opportunity. After filming the first episode he found the experience to be exciting and easy going. He knew that he had made the right decision and was glad that he said yes.

Pazkowski’s list of involvements doesn’t end there. He also participates in many activities outside of campus. He is a very well-rounded student.

“Besides my on campus activities, I have a girlfriend who is crazy awesome and gorgeous.  Music is my main passion and I’m a member of two bands,” he said. “I also play racquetball and work out when I can. Also, not to toot my own horn (toot toot), but I’m a pretty solid ping pong player.”

Pazkowski cites his experience with Entertainment Unlimited as his greatest endeavor in college so far. He served as programming coordinator for two years. The position gave him the opportunity to work with contracts, entertainers and to set up shows for everyone on campus to enjoy.

“Being involved is important to me because helping people and being a part of something bigger than myself drives me to be the best person I can be,” Pazkowski said.

Pazkowksi and a friend, Parker Hammon, won an award for a business pitch competition during his freshman year.  He dreams of one day owning a successful business.  Although he has not completed an internship yet, he is interested in securing one with the Chicago Amphitheater.

Pazkowski credits Ferris for the great opportunities that he has been presented with and has taken advantage of.  He has a bright future ahead of him and is a great example of a well-balanced and active student.
