The Student Recreation Center will be a vivid resource site on Thursday, Oct. 27,
when Ferris State University welcomes over 300 employers for the Fall 2022 Career
& Internship Fair. Over 700 contacts, many of them Ferris alumni, will be on hand
seeking students for internships or entry-level jobs with their businesses, school
districts and nonprofits.
Ferris State University students seeking opportunities to begin career-related experiences or to embark on their professional lives should have plenty of prospects on Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Fall 2022 Career and Internship Fair in the Student Recreation Center on the Big Rapids campus.
Career Readiness Specialist and Business Liaison Michele Albright, from the Center for Career and Professional Success, said with over 300 employers registered with over 700 recruiters at the event, organizers are pleased.
“This will be the largest in-person Career and Internship Fair hosted on campus since Fall 2018,” Albright said. “We hope that students at all levels and in all programs will attend this large event.”
Typically, the Career and Internship Fair is at the Ewigleben Sports Complex. However, those facilities are busier as the nearby Bulldog Arena and Center for Athletics Performance construction and renovation projects are near completion. Albright said the Student Recreation Center is a capable and inviting location. However, she encourages students to be mindful of the logistics of that campus area.
“We will welcome our guests and students to the Student Recreation Center, across the street from our football team’s Top Taggart Field,” Albright said. “The job seekers will be admitted at 11 a.m. They are encouraged to walk or use the bus to the location, as parking will be congested. In addition, there will be an area for students to change, rest their bags and hang their coats.”
Preparation is the key to success at the fair, according to Albright. The First Lady’s Attic in the David L. Eisler Center is a free resource for any student to find business-professional clothing. The Center for Career and Professional Success will also review resumes provided via email by Friday, Oct. 21, in Word or PDF. Ferris360 can be accessed to learn which employers are registered in the Handshake section, under Events as “2022 Fall Career and Internship Fair.”
The personal presentation can be optimized using the Big Interview materials available online and in-person interview practice available with Center for Career and Professional Success staff by using Ferris student emails and Navigate.
“It is a great event for new students to explore different career fields and make connections with professionals, many of which are Ferris alumni,” Albright said. “Creating connections are how people land opportunities.”
Those looking to meet with recruiters from education, nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, various industries and other businesses should bring their Ferris ID for check-in at the fair’s registration table. Albright noted a need for volunteers to guide students and assist at check-in. Volunteers can go online to offer help.
