The Administration and Finance Division’s Campus Auxiliary Services operation has announced that Lisa Ortiz, Ferris State University’s interim Housing and Residence Life director, is now officially the director of that office after serving the last eight months in an acting capacity.

Ortiz joined the HRL staff in 2008, with a 2018 promotion to become the Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life. As interim director, Ortiz received the Dr. John E. “Jack” Collins Distinguished Service Award from the Great Lakes Association of College and University Housing Officers (GLACUHO).

“I believe the pride we have in what we do for our students in the residence halls, West Campus Apartments and East Campus Suites is a benefit to all students and the greater Ferris community,” Ortiz said. “A big part of that effort was renovations we made to Clark Hall and other residence halls, the opening of Finch Court and North Hall and other continuous improvement projects throughout our operation. We opened a number of doors and want our staff and residents to be proud of the university.”

Ortiz began her service in student housing as a resident assistant at Central Michigan University and later earned a Master of Education in Higher Education-College Student Affairs Leadership from Grand Valley State University.
